Marvellous Suspension?

The patented Wilbers Nivomat system automatically ensures an adequate spring rate, damping and suspension travel without the need for manual adjustments - completely independently via the hydropneumatic function and always ideal for the payload.

Developed in co-operation with ZF from the OEM passenger car sector, the Wilbers Nivomat system achieves unprecedented functionality and quality.

NEW DEVELOPMENT for the Harley Davidson Sportster 1250S

After the presentation and initial test reports of the Sporster 1250S, it was clear to us that following the great success of the system for the Touring models, we now urgently needed to develop a system for the Sportster 1250S.
Because here, too, the conventional shock absorber fitted as standard quickly reaches its limits. The sensational design and the belt drive of the Sportser 1250S unfortunately do not allow much suspension travel due to the design, which inevitably leads to a taut set-up with normal shock absorbers.
The Wilbers Nivomat suspension also provides the solution here: the spring travel is increased to a full 80 mm and the spring rate has been significantly reduced due to the additional gas spring, which becomes harder depending on the load. It is important to mention that the seat height does not change significantly and therefore the Sportster 1250S retains its compact appearance.
The Wilbers Nivomat system provides the necessary comfort without sacrificing stability and handling.

The Wilbers LDC in detail

The Wilbers suspension, which technically corresponds to the well-known Nivomat system from ZF, is a fully automatic, hydropneumatic levelling system
The rider does not need to manually adjust anything in this system.
The core advantage of the Wilbers Nivomat is the combination of level control and the progressive behaviour of spring rate and damping, level control, damping and spring rate adjustment, which adapts to the load:
Activation and control of the unit happens mechanically and hydraulically.
The Wilbers Nivomat system is active and ready for use as soon as you start riding

Opinions on the Wilbers Nivomat powered by ZF

The managing directors of the Wilbers Group, first and foremost Benny Wilbers, employees of ZF Friedrichshafen AG, test drivers and brand ambassadors involved in the development as well as independent Nivomat drivers provide insight into their impressions of the development of the system and give feedback on its functionality.
